Blight Response Flow
-
Identify the Icon — First identify whether it is an elemental blight, status ailment, Frenzy, or Bubbleblight. Each asks for a different response.
-
Remove or Resist — Use Nullberries for elemental blights, matchup-specific items for ailments, or build 20 elemental resistance / level 3 ailment resistance to prevent the problem.
-
Keep Fighting Safely — Some effects are immediately dangerous, like Fireblight, Blast, Stun, Paralysis, and Sleep. Others mainly reduce damage output or stamina control.
-
Turn It Into Power — Coalescence, Frenzy cure, Antivirus, Bubbleblight set bonuses, and Slicked Blade can convert recovery or self-inflicted effects into damage and affinity.
Elemental Blights
| Blight | Effect | Best Response | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fireblight | Drains health over time and stops red-health recovery. | Roll three times, roll into water, or use Nullberry. | |
| Waterblight | Greatly slows stamina recovery. | Use Nullberry; Stamina Surge helps soften the penalty. | |
| Thunderblight | Makes stun much easier to trigger. | Use Nullberry or run Stun Resistance for safer matchups. | |
| Iceblight | Increases stamina consumption for dodges, dashes, and attacks. | Use Nullberry; Constitution and Marathon Runner reduce the pain. | |
| Dragonblight | Nullifies weapon element and status buildup. | Use Nullberry quickly if your weapon relies on element/status. |
Common Status Ailments
| Ailment | Threat | Counter | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Poison | Health drains over time. | Antidote, Herbal Medicine, or Herbal Powder. | |
| Paralysis | Cannot move or act. | Palico or teammates can knock you out of it; prevent with resistance. | |
| Sleep | Drowsy phase, then sleep. | Drink Energy Drink before you fully fall asleep. | |
| Stun | Brief incapacitation after repeated hits. | Stun Resistance is a strong comfort option. | |
| Blast | Explodes after roughly 20 seconds if not cleared. | Use Deodorant or roll three times. | |
| Bleeding | Continuous health loss, shown by a pink health bar. | Crouch while sheathed or use Wild Jerky. | |
| Stench | Blocks some consumables like potions. | Use Deodorant or evade through water. | |
| Webbed / Frostbound | Binds you in place. | Mash movement or use Cleanser. |
Advanced Upside
Coalescence
After recovering from a blight or abnormal status, Coalescence raises elemental attack. At level 3, heavy weapons get a larger boost than light weapons, making it a serious elemental-build option.
Frenzy Virus
Frenzy fills a purple gauge. Attack aggressively to cure it before full infection. Curing gives +15% affinity for 60 seconds, and Antivirus 3 adds another 10% while making the cure easier.
Bubbleblight
Minor Bubbleblight improves evasion, while Major Bubbleblight hurts movement. Mizutsune set bonuses can remove the downside and turn repeated evasions into a build engine.
Slicked Blade
Mizutsune weapons can gain affinity when wet or under Bubbleblight. At level 3, it can reach a total of 30% affinity under the right condition.
TIP · Loadout Reminder — Nullberries, Herbal Medicine, Deodorant, Cleanser, Energy Drink, and Wild Jerky cover most common problems. Swap them based on the monster instead of overpacking every hunt.
